2019: MUZEIKO IN PLOVDIV 


In 2019 Muzeiko will visit the European Capital of Culture Plovdiv and will settle down for a rather long time with interesting scientific discoveries. Do you know who the child inventors are? Or when the first binary alphabet was created? … long before the Internet era! When did the telephone become a “telephone“ and was television invented by accident? The answers to these and many other questions are tied to human curiosity and will be provided by the exhibit “Eureka“. It will be part of the opening program of Plovdiv – European Capital of Culture 2019 on 13th of January 2019 at the Museum Centre for Contemporary History on 14 Angel Boukoreshtliev Street (Sahat tepe).

„The exhibit that is set to remain in the city until the end of the year is the perfect occasion for Muzeiko to get to meet Plovdiv and display the world of science in the fashion we would always like it to be – gripping, intriguing, and accessible. We hope that our presence in the city will help spur the interest in people from all age groups not only in the inventions that have changed the lives of humans, but also in the unlimited potential of our imagination and the innovative approach“, remarked Vessela Gertcheva, the Director of Exhibits and Programs at Muzeiko.  

“Eureka“ will reveal the exciting road to the great discoveries of the 19th and 20th centuries to all the young explorers. Through interactive installations the little curious minds will have the opportunity to experiment, and most importantly to learn that mistakes are an acceptable part of the process of transforming the good ideas into mechanisms that work. Muzeiko will disclose how the phonograph functions, why the crazy plasticine and the Frisbee are among the funniest inventions, and how the hot air balloon allowed the Montgolfier brothers to ascend up into the sky.

The host of the exhibit is the Regional History Museum in Plovdiv. The еxhibit is part of the program of Plovdiv – European Capital of Culture 2019. Muzeiko’s visit to Plovdiv has also been made possible due to the support of EVN Bulgaria. So far, the exhibit with the inventions has also paid visits to Sofia, Razgrad, and Gabrovo.
